This section covers the rules applicable to all National Lottery Games provided by ITHUBA.
1.0 Glossary
Barcode
An optical machine-readable representation of data attached to an object, systematically representing data by varying the widths and spacing of parallel lines.
Claimant
A person submitting a claim for a Prize within the applicable Claim Period for a specific Game.
Claim Period
A 365-day period from the date of the Draw or purchase of a Receipt for an EAZiWIN Game, within which a Prize must be claimed.
Control Number
Technical sales information included on an Entry.
Draw Procedures
Procedures to which any Draw shall be subject, as determined by ITHUBA from time to time.
Internal Verification System (IVS)
A standalone independent verification system generating the weekly winners' report using valid Entries for a specified Draw.
Player’s Helpline
The National Lottery call center providing customer service to Participants.
Prize Claim Form
A printed form issued by ITHUBA, completed by a Participant to claim certain Prizes.
Prize Claim Notice
A written notice of a Prize claim submitted to ITHUBA.
Retailer Helpline
The National Lottery call center offering customer service to Retailers.
Serial Number
The unique number assigned by ITHUBA’s Central Computer System and printed on a Ticket/Receipt.
Ticket
A National Lottery Ticket, an EAZiWIN Playcard, or valid Receipt evidencing an Entry.
Winning Numbers
The numbers used to determine winning Entries for a Draw.
2.0 Playing the National Lottery Games
A. How to play
Participants and Retailers must follow ITHUBA's determined method of Entry for the Draw.
B. Cancellation of a National Lottery Ticket
A Ticket may be canceled if issued in error, illegible, or incomplete. It can be canceled within 2 hours of purchase if returned to any National Lottery Terminal.
C. Participant’s responsibility for the National Lottery Ticket
It is the Participant’s responsibility to ensure a valid Ticket is issued, with correct details and a legible Control Number.
D. Fraudulent/Suspected Fraudulent Tickets
Lost, damaged, or torn Tickets can be assisted by ITHUBA if reported promptly. Investigation will occur if a lost Ticket is recovered during the Claim Period.
E. Draws
ITHUBA determines the time, frequency, date, and method of Draws. Winning Numbers are those confirmed by independent auditors.
F. Dissemination of Winning Numbers Information
Results are made available at Retailer outlets and on the Site. In case of discrepancies, the video recording of the Draw takes precedence.
G. Participant’s Privacy Policy
ITHUBA may use the Participant’s name and picture in public communications with prior written consent.
H. Prize Claim Period
Prizes must be claimed within the Claim Period, with different periods for various Games.
I. Purchase and Prize Restrictions
Specific individuals, including minors and certain board members, are restricted from purchasing Tickets or claiming Prizes.
J. Use of Prize Claim Forms and Payment to Prize Winners in Person
Prizes are paid according to ITHUBA’s procedures. Prize Claim Forms must be completed for certain prize amounts.
K. Ticket Validation Requirements
An original/valid Ticket is the only valid proof for participation and claiming a Prize, subject to ITHUBA’s validation procedures.
3.0 Liability
ITHUBA and Retailers are not liable for losses, damages, or costs incurred during security or dispute resolution processes.
4.0 Dispute Resolution
ITHUBA's decisions on Valid Winning Tickets and disputes are final and binding.
5.0 Governing Law
All contents are governed by the laws of the Republic of South Africa, with exclusive jurisdiction in the courts of South Africa.
